Strop

A strop is used for fine deburring and polishing the blade to a sharp cutting edge following stone grinding. This process increases the superfine sharpness of the knife many times over. We manufacture the strop ourselves in Solingen. It is made from steamed and oiled cherry wood from German and Austrian fruit farms.

On each side it has a different degree of surface roughness: 10 microns (fine) and 20 microns (rough). The rough side is dusted at the factory with diamantine powder. Diamantine is a very fine aluminium oxide polishing powder. During the sharpening process it removes a little more material, contributing to particularly clean and thorough deburring.
