The Lignum S 1 is part of our “Knifemaking East to West” concept. The idea behind this medium-sized chef ‘s knife goes back to 2005. As a “coproduction”, it features a blade forged and ground in Japan by our partner Shirou Kamo. We are responsible for the handle and final finish, as well as the design. Our craftsmen expertly and precisely shape and fit the grip by hand in fine woods such as Makassar Ebony, Walnut, Moroccan Thuya and Amazonian Palisander. A compound of two stainless steel types, the blade comprises a core of extremely hard VG-5 steel and an outer mantle of 410 material. Mr Kamo forges, tempers and grinds the blade entirely by hand.
